GOLU IDOL

Cast -- Kasturi, Anandan, Alamelu,

It was a nice morning in anandan’s home. Kasturi was busy in finishing up the house hold works. Anadan’s mom alamelu was relaxing reading newspapers and watched how her daughter in law performing household jobs. Anandan was on his way busy leaving to office.

A Golu idol vendor was on his way selling idols on the street. People at home and whole town knows about the kasturi’s craze on golu idols. Golu is a traditional south Indian festival of arranging up the idols of various colours. Kasturi had started up various plans for the festival in her mind. Kasturi prompted anandan for buying up some more idols which are unique apart from her collection.
Since anandan was very busy on his way to office, he responded kasturi we shall leave to Kuralagam - the golu idol bazaar where we can get more unique and new idols for sale.

Alamelu was keenly watching their conversation at home and interrupted them stating “ Son lets don’t waste money in those idols. Lets celebrate festival with the one which we have bought for last festival”. Kasturi broke down on hearing alamelu words. She is not happy with alamelu interrupting in idols shopping. Anandan came in immediately and said “Mom let kasturi buy her idols as per her wish. Alamelu felt anandan supporting for his wife and stated “Im not cursing her anand I just want to convey on spending which she makes”. Anandan called her mom to discuss about this in his room. He whispered to his mom stating “Mom don’t curse her. She has come to our home believing on us. She is still a child to me. We havent got children yet too. So stop cursing her activites. Pls understand.” Later alamelu too nodded saying “ Ok I wont interrupt in any of her activities. Kasturi was very eager on the conversation happened inside that room. Eagerly she enquired alamelu what was the discussion about. Alamelu asked kasturi to wait her in dressing room. On giving a make up to kasturi alamelu eagerly enquired on different types of idol which is for sale in Kuralagam. Kasturi was so happy explaining her mother in law in new varieties of golu idols which has come for sale that season.

Kasturi started explaining various idols and their specialities with explanation. Alamelu was surprised on hearing these stories and the knowledge which kasturi has got on these idols. Kasturi insisted alamelu to make a visit to kuralagam shopping. Anandan returned as usual by 5pm from office to home. Kasturi anandan and alamelu started in an auto rickshaw to kuralagam. Both kasturi & alamelu bought packs full of idols on their wish. Anandan took every body to hotel for dinner and by the time they reached it clocked 10pm night.

The next day morning kasturi was very busy in making the prep for golu idols. Alamelu too assisted kasturi in making the Steel steps on which we can arrange on golu idols. Kasturi cleaned the home completely and hanged on more garlands to give up all new look to home. Anandan was astonished when he returned from office that day on seeing up the decorations and his lovely wife dressed up special in glittering saree. Anandan cudnt move up his eyes on seeing kasturi the way she welcomed neighbours and friends who have made a visit to watch golu arrangements.

Kasturi was swift in distributing sweets to all the visitors to her home everyday. Golu took on 5 days of the week and on the whole kasturi is the one who captured everybody on her soft voice and politeness. Anandan was very proud to have such a lovely and kind wife.

Alamelu was happy and busy discussing with all her friends and neighbours around her. Even in busy schedule kasturi didn’t forget to give alamelu her BP pills. Things went on fine and golu festival ended up with grand celebrations at kasturi home.

Anandan was very proud and cuddled her wife in love. That night anandan thought of his dad for a moment. Anandan was born in a royal family. On a sudden day off his father died in a heart attack and the whole empire ceased off with no money. Anandan and his mother left stranded on the way by her relatives. It was alamelu who took her lad anandan and brought him up to this position. Alamelu struggled a lot in giving education to anandan. She sold out sweets, she ran some small businesses and gave education to his anandan. Slowly the family situation grew up a bit and anandan was placed on a decent job.
